Elon Musk’s lawyers try to slow down the progress of Twitter’s lawsuit

Elon Musk’s authorized staff has responded to Twitter’s lawsuit in opposition to him, saying that the firm is demanding an unreasonably quick trial. In response, Musk’s staff asks that the case not be heard till subsequent 12 months, in accordance to Bloomberg.

Twitter has pushed for the trial to happen in mid-September, justifying the request to expedite issues on condition that Musk and Twitter’s merger settlement has an October twenty fourth “presumptive drop-dead date.” However, Musk’s staff is asking that the trial not be held till February thirteenth, 2023 trial at the earliest, Bloomberg reviews.

Twitter declined to touch upon the matter, and pointed to its preliminary grievance filed Tuesday.

Twitter sued Musk earlier this week after he formally tried to bail on his $44 billion settlement to purchase the firm. Nearly instantly after he stated he meant to pull the plug, Twitter board chairman Bret Taylor stated the firm can be taking Musk to court, and the firm filed its lawsuit on Tuesday. Musk hadn’t responded through the courtroom till Friday, although on Tuesday, he did tweet.

Musk’s major assertion for wanting to terminate the merger is that Twitter has not given him the knowledge to “‘make an independent assessment of the prevalence of fake or spam accounts on Twitter’s platform,” his authorized staff wrote final week. His staff once more invoked the bots difficulty in Friday’s submitting. According to The Wall Street Journal, they stated that “the core dispute over false and spam accounts is fundamental to Twitter’s value. It is also extremely fact and expert intensive, requiring substantial time for discovery.”

There can be a 90-minute listening to subsequent week on July nineteenth at 11AM ET to resolve when the trial will happen, in accordance to Bloomberg and Reuters.
